Laboratory
The Bert Fish Medical Center Laboratory Services offer several on- site services including: bacteriology, chemistry, diagnostic immunology, hematology, immunohematology, mycobacteriology, mycology, parasitology, pathology and virology. These services help citizens and visitors of Southeast Volusia County including inpatients, outpatients, oncology patients, hospice and home health care patients, as well as those suffering from emergent, acute or chronic illnesses.
The Laboratory is staffed by licensed Medical Technologists and Technicians and Certified Phlebotomists under the direction of a licensed medical doctor who specializes in Pathology and Clinical Laboratory Medicine. We are licensed by the State of Florida and are fully accredited by the Joint Commission.
Hours
Extended hours are offered to help accommodate your busy schedule.
April 1 through December 31, laboratory outpatient hours:
Monday – Friday: 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Closed on weekends except for pre-ops and STATS. Please go to the Emergency Room at the North end of the hospital for after-hours registration. You will then be escorted to the laboratory.
January 1 through March 31:
Monday – Friday: 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Saturday 7:30 AM – 11:00 AM

Edgewater Diagnostic Center – Lab Draw Station only
7 AM to 11:30 AM Monday through Friday
Holidays
All locations are closed for routine laboratory work on the following holidays:
- Memorial Day
- Fourth of July
- Labor Day
- New Years Day
- Christmas
- Thanksgiving Day
