Pulmonary Rehabilitation

This wide-range program includes medically-supervised exercise and personal instruction designed to help relieve the physical and emotional disabilities experience by patients with chronic lung disease.  The objectives of the program are to minimize the disabling effects of pulmonary illness and return the patient to a normal lifestyle.  This goal is accomplished through education, regulation of proper diet and exercise, and behavior modification.

Program participants include patients with a variety of disorders, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, asthma, chronic bronchitis, pulmonary fibrosis and other pulmonary-related illnesses.  The program also provides emotional and psychological support to patients and their loved ones.

Cardiac Rehabilitation

Bert Fish Medical Center offers the residents of Southeast Volusia County an important tool in the fight against heart disease – a comprehensive, 12-week cardiac rehabilitation program. If you’ve had heart problems in the past or have strong risk factors for heart disease in the future, cardiac rehabilitation at Bert Fish Medical Center could help you add a new beat to your step.  Cardiac rehabilitation is a physician-prescribed program with emphasis on safe physical conditioning and education.  Through individualized and carefully-monitored exercise sessions, this hospital-based program can improve the quality of your life.
